trust us, they trusted God’s control. Your dream should terrify you. If it doesn’t, do you really need God to accomplish it?

We take more risks. I married a risk-taker. He’s naturally brave. I’m not. But living scared has produced a dependence on Jesus like nothing else. It also gives you the courage to do things you didn’t think you could. I thought the extreme poverty we exposed our children to would wreck them like it had me. It didn’t. They were resilient, with the attitude, “This is bad. How can we help?” It taught me so much about their childlike faith. Since coming home, when I have mentioned needs, they are apt to offer suggestions that make me uncomfortable. Any time there is a financial need like an unexpected, expensive van repair in Kenya or another C-section, they remind me of what God has already provided. They trust what they can’t see because God has been faithful.

We depend on God more. We’ve asked God for some pretty big things —huge financial provision, supernatural healing in our girls, wisdom and direction, and so much more. Sometimes I’m the first to forget His provision when a new request presents itself. My kids often remind me of what God has done. They simply believe.

We see more miracles. Because we’ve made it a habit to share the needs with our kids, they have also seen the miracles. From God stretching food to feed seven hundred hungry kids in the slum to a raped momma falling in love with her baby, we have the privilege of not only asking for the impossible but also seeing it come to pass.
